Proposed Red Deer seniors lodge closer to final approval

Construction may soon be going ahead on a new assisted living facility in Red Deer’s Bower neighbourhood.

On Aug. 7, the City’s Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) approved a development permit for Chandos Construction to build a three-storey, 90-unit assisted living facility at 4736 30 Street in Red Deer, site of the former Red Deer Nursing Home.

As for the building itself, it is planned to be finished in vinyl siding , hardie plank trim, pre-finished metal flashing and cultured stone accents. The building’s design also includes a canopy within the front yard, providing weather protection for drop-off of residents.
